Technology assimilation is a critical driver of economic development, industrial upgrading, and social transformation in developing economies. While technology adoption theory is well-explored in developed countries, developing economies face unique structural, cultural, institutional, and socio-economic challenges that influence how technologies are absorbed and utilized. This conceptual review consolidates and synthesizes literature from development theory, information systems, innovation diffusion, and socio-economic studies to develop a holistic understanding of technology assimilation in developing contexts. A Technology Assimilation Framework for Developing Economies (TAF-DE) is proposed, depicting the interplay between technological, institutional, organizational, cultural, and infrastructural dimensions. Figures, diagrams, and detailed theoretical explanations are provided to illustrate the assimilation process. The study concludes with implications for policymakers, organizations, and international development agencies.
